When talking about University of the Philippines, perhaps the first thing that comes to mind is education excellence. University of the Philippines Manila is the first campus of the University of the Philippines System, founded in 1908. Its oldest unit grants degrees in the College of Medicine, founded by the Philippine Medical School. This is now the center of health sciences education in the Philippines because of the institution of the National Health Sciences Center.
Being a center for research in health sciences, it supervises the Philippine General Hospital. UP Manila is a tertiary school for learning health sciences. Colleges and Degrees
UP Manila has nine degree-granting units composed, seven of which are colleges.
The College of Allied Medical Professions offer degrees in BS Occupational Therapy, BS Physical Therapy and BS Speech Pathology.
The College of Arts and Sciences offer BS Applied Physics (Health Physics), BS Computer Science, BS Biochemistry, BA Organizational Communication, BA Philippine Arts (Cultural Heritage/Art Management), BA Development Studies, BA Social Sciences (Area Studies), BA Political Science, Department of Physical Education. BA Behavioral Sciences and BS Biology.
The College of Dentistry is home to the Department of Basic Dentistry Sciences, Department of Clinical Sciences, Department of Community Dentistry.
The College of Public Health offers BS Public Health as an undergraduate program, SEAMEO-TropMed Environmental and Occupational Health, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, Department of Health Promotion and Education, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Department of Nutrition, Department of Medical Microbiology and Department of Parasitology.
Its College of Nursing offers undergraduate studies as well as graduate studies in Nursing.
The College of Pharmacy offers BS Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and BS Industrial Pharmacy.
UP Manila also manages the National Teacher Training Center for the Health Professions and School of Health Sciences in Baler, Aurora; Palo, Leyte and Koronadal South Cotabato.
Its flagship college is the College of Medicine.
