San Sebastian College has made a name when it comes to the top schools in the country through its competent, highly qualified and successful alumni. San Sebastian College- Recoletos Manila, popularly referred to as Baste is an institution of higher learning which is a part of the Augustinian Recollect schools in the country, owned and operated by the Order of Augustinian Recollects.
The school is named after the Roman centurion and martyr, Saint Sebastian. It started with just a two-storey convent which served as classrooms for the first batch of students comprised of 200 elementary and high school students. It was an exclusive school for boys.
SSC-R was established in March 1941 however, during World War II it was in hiatus for three years since 1942. In 1947, it has formally reopened.
The college was given Level 3 accreditation by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities for its elementary, high school, college, graduate studies and College of Law. It maintains the status of being the only school with the highest slot in Tourism, Arts program, Psychology and Business Administration courses.
Under its College of Accountancy, Business Administration, and Computer Studies, the school offers: Business Management, Marketing Management, Financial Management, Human Resources, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Major in Financial and Managerial Accounting and Bachelor of Science in Commerce.
For the College of Arts and Sciences, the courses offered are: Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication, Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Bachelor of Science in Legal Management.
The College of International Hospitality Management offers Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management with specializations in Culinary Arts, Hotel, Restaurant and Resort Management and Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management that specializes in Tour and Travel Operations and Management.
SSC-R Graduate Studies offers Master of Business Administration with Concentration in: Human Capital Management and Labor Relations, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Business and Industrial Economics, Corporate Finance, Business and Industrial Economics, Productivity and Quality Management Fiscal Management and Public Administration and Marketing Management.
The department also offers Master of Arts in Theology and Master of Arts major in Theological Studies.
The College of Law offers the four-year Juris Doctor course which is formerly the Bachelor of Laws.
