Planning to drop by the historic EDSA while visiting Manila? You can take the North Avenue MRT Station for a traffic-free trip. Here you can visualize what happened back in time, making this area historical.
The North Avenue MRT Station, also referred to as North by locals, is one of the stations of the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 3. North Avenue is among the elevated stations found on the line. This station is located in Diliman, Quezon City and named after its location at the corner of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue and North Avenue.
There is an underground depot near the station called the North Avenue Depot where the trains running on the line are kept and maintained. The elevated tracks are terminated abruptly beyond the station leaving sufficient room for terminating train that leaves the station and stopping before switching the other track before entering the station again to begin southern journey.
The MRT-3 operates daily from 4:30 AM to 10:00 PM. On Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Black Saturday and Easter Sunday, it is closed for annual maintenance. Special hours could be imposed on important holidays such as All Saints Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
The station is connected to TriNoma shopping mall which opened in 2007. It is also located close to SM City North EDSA. Other landmarks in the area include the Quezon Memorial Circle and Triangle Park which houses the Philippine Science High School Main Campus, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, Quezon City Science High School and Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife.
The North Avenue station serves as a link to different transportation options. There are buses that ply the EDSA route. The bus terminal is located near the station. There are also taxis and jeepnes that stop in and around the station and bus terminal.
There is a proposed MRT-7 and upon completion, the station would be connected through a transfer point to the North Avenue LRT Station.
