Named as one of the most popular schools in the country, the De La Salle-College of Sain Benilde has proven its worth when it comes to quality of education. Several famous and successful personalities are proud products of this school.
De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde is a private Catholic college which was established by Brother Andrew Gonzales FSC in 1980. It was initially the College of Career Development which was a night school for De La Salle University’s working students. In 1988, it was renamed to De La Salle University- College of Saint Benilde, in honor of Saint Benilde Romancon. It became autonomous in 1994 and renamed to its present name in 2004 after its restated vision and mission.
Not deviating from its original purpose, the college is using learner-centered instruction in offering its degree and non-degree programs which aims to develop professionals in various fields. This is also the first college in the country to offer degrees in consular and diplomatic affairs, animation, export management, digital filmmaking, multimedia arts, fashion design and merchandising, music production, information technology major in game design and development and photography.
The college is comprised of six schools that offer both degree and non-degree programs.
The School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies was initially established as a vocational program that offers courses in accounting and bookkeeping for the deaf but it later became a School of Special Studies where Bachelor in Applied Deaf Studies is now offered.
The biggest is the School of Design and Arts which was established in 1995. It offers thirteen degree programs taught by at least 145 faculty members. Many of its faculty members are also practitioners of the field.
The School of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management was established in 1996 and is housed at the Angelo King International Center. The school has partnered with the Vatel International Hospitality School of Paris in 2009 which made it possible for the school to offer Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management.
The School of Multidisciplinary Studies handles the general education curriculum of all programs that the college offers.
Lastly, the School of Professional and Continuing Education offers the post-baccalaureate diploma programs for those who seek to continue education in different business-related fields.
